Description
Risen is a large painting on three panels. The total size of the painting is 225 x 115 x 1 cm, each panel is 75 x 115 x 1 cm. Risen is inspired by light. I walk my two dogs daily and I am always amazed at how light changes the scenery and your emotional reaction to the landscape. Walking through the woods, occasionally the light is astonishing, the shadows it casts and the brilliance of the rays give a renewed life to everything it touches. I wanted to create a semi abstract work which reflected this light. The abstract nature of the ghostly wild roses and the depth of colour within the fallen leaves is offset by beautiful delicate butterflies which hover in the suns rays. The painted light reacts with the light falling upon the painting. This painting needs to be displayed where light can hit it from an angle as it is daylight reflecting off the painting which creates the sun beams in the painting. If the painting is not hung in a position where light hits it at an angle the suns rays cannot be seen clearly in the image. In some light, the rays are almost invisible, then as the sun moves in the sky and it hits the painting the sun light in the painting becomes astounding. For this reason I have included multiple photographs of �Risen� seen at different periods of the day to give the viewer an appreciation of the paintings ability to alter depending upon how light hits it. Risen has boxed edges which are painted black. It is ready to hang. As this painting is on three panels it is advised that each panel is mirror plated to the wall when hanging to ensure all panels are aligned and flat.
