Description
Sirius and Blue Violet Roses is a large abstract painting measuring 140 x 90 x 3 cm. The sky becomes ink, blue violet hues. It stains the land. The sun has set, the air is cool. Sirius glows, scorching the ground with iridescent light. Wild roses reach their tendrils, drinking in the alien light. In the dark of night there is light. The light fills me.
My inspiration for this painting is night. To me this is represented by cool air, luminous light and rich deep hues. I wanted the painting to remain essentially abstract and for me this meant focusing on colour before shape. Deep hues of blue and violet, light and dark. The painting becomes a garden, savage and wild with ghostly roses and the suggestion of more. It draws the viewer in to the cool solace of night.
Sirius and Blue Violet Roses has been created on high quality artist canvas stretched over a bespoke wooden frame. The boxed edges are painted black. This painting is ready to hang.
