Herculean is a portrait of a bull elephant. I was inspired to paint this portrait after reading about how elephants are being hunted to near extinction for their ivory. In Africa, due to large scale hunting most large groups of elephants could be extinct by 2020. Because of human vanity we are gradually erasing this magnificent and proud animal from the earth and it makes me want to cry. Herculean captures the strength and power of the elephant but more than this, it shows the eyes and emotion of the elephant. Herculean is a large, modern portrait at 115 x 75 x 1.5cm. It is ready to hang.
