Description
Sea green Storms and Moonlight Solace is a large painting measuring 200 x 100 x 3 cm. It is painted on two panels designed to be hung next to each other, each panel measures 100 x 100 x 3cm.
Sea green Storms and Moonlight Solace was inspired by the path I take when out walking. From the track I can see across the bay and on Winter evenings dark clouds often gather. One blustery evening I could clearly see the swell in the sea and the sky looked heavy. The wind was whipping across my face and the sharp, needle like raindrops began to sting my cheeks. The moon appeared in the sky, lighting the path and I knew it was time to head home, the moonlight guiding my way. Even alone in the dark of the storm I didnt feel afraid. The Moonlight was beautiful and calm and serene and I felt privileged to see the storm amid the sheltering light of the Moon. This was my inspiration for Sea green Storms and Moonlight Solace. I wanted to maintain an abstract quality within the painting and include a depth of anger in the colours in the sky. When I was walking the sky was loaded and a haze of rain broke the outline of the clouds. This is captured in the abstract colours and expressionistic style of the painting. The Moon is in contrast to everything else, a peaceful, permanent presence of calm which to me represents the hope of human nature amidst the fantastic turbulance of life. It is a large work at 200 x 100 x 3cm altogether, composed of two 100 x 100 x 2 cm canvas panels. The boxed edges are painted black and the panels are ready to hang.
