Large abstract original paintings for sale and the great outdoors- The Wild Things series

I have recently been working on a series of large original abstract paintings which are a blaze of colour. These works have been so inspiring to create and the first step for me has always been exploring the great outdoors. Inspiration comes to people in different ways. For me and the "Wild Thing" series my inspiration was drawn from the hidden corners of my garden. In these spaces the ground is left untamed, it's where the weeds thrive and the insects crawl. Don't get me wrong, I do mow the grass every now and again... however im the kind of girl who likes to leave the edges long ( im not sure whether this is due to my love of nature or perhaps laziness!) Im fortunate enough to have a huge house and garden in France. The seasons here are distinct with the winters cool and damp and the summers blazing hot. Recently It has been so hot during the day that I have begun walking my dogs in the late evening as the moon is rising and the sun long set. Its at this time that the inspiration for the "Wild Things" series came to me. This is when I saw the beauty in the neglected areas.

I knew immediately that I wanted these artworks to be LARGE. My idea was to bring these beautiful savage corners of the garden into the home, like a window of colour into a magical garden. I also knew that I would create works which were more abstracted. The hidden corners of the garden are wild and free. There is nothing preened and pruned here and in the same way I wanted my art to be free and flowing. I also realised that initially I just saw a blur of colour rather than the beautiful wild flowers hidden amongst the hedgerows. This had to be reflected ikn the artwork.

In the end the works created are a wonderful assault to the eye and fill the soul with a rush of beauty. The colours are a blurred abstract delight initially but then on closer inspection the viewer can focus in upon what is obviously a beautiful wild garden. Juxtaposed to the abstract blaze of colour are beautiful fine art butterflies and flowers. This keeps the viewer bewitched by the painting, searching for more visual delights and moving the eye around the whole artwork. I have included ghostly wild roses which for me completed the works by defining the nature of the garden. It was also a hommage to their wild beauty. I knew the message of the work would be lost with perfect flowers and this is what reminded me of the wild plants thriving in the uncivilised corners of my garden.

I hope you enjoy these Large abstract paintings. I have adored painting them and one large painting graces the wall of my living room. Numerous pieces in this series have now been sold and one was curated in a featured collection on saatchi art https://www.saatchiart.com/angiewright.
